LEARN about new WA Desalination Plant

Fun facts about the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant, currently under construction:

👷 The project will create over 1,300 local jobs, including 155 apprenticeships.

💧Stage 1 of the plant will produce 150 million litres of drinking water per day, equivalent to over 50 billion litres annually. A future Stage 2 expansion could
double capacity to 100 billion litres annually.

💪 A 33.5-kilometer underground pipeline that was made in WA will connect the plant to Wanneroo and Perth's water supply network.

✅ The plant’s construction and operation emissions will be offset by renewables from WA wind farms.

🌳 It'll help reduce our reliance on groundwater, helping to preserve wetlands, forests, parks, and public open spaces.

🌱 Built-up, vegetated sand dunes and retaining walls will protect the facility from coastal impacts and integrate it with the natural landscape.
