WATCH: In Gaza's widening humanitarian crisis, water access becomes dire

A humanitarian crisis has unfolded in Gaza in the weeks since Israel declared war against Hamas, which launched surprise attacks along Israel’s southern border on Oct. 7.

Along with a shortage of fuel and medical supplies, people trying to survive the war are running out of water. Damage from the war along with shortages of fuel have incapacitated Gaza's water infrastructure, forcing residents to turn to unsafe sources of water, if they can find any at all.

To discuss the dire circumstances surrounding water access in this war, and what is needed to get water to the residents of Gaza, the PBS NewsHour's Tim McPhillips spoke to Jonathan Crickx, Chief of Communication and Advocacy for UNICEF in the State of Palestine.
