@BrexHQCEO: How Jailbreaking the iPhone at 12 Led to a $12.3B Company (The Full Story)

As Brex CEO Pedro Franceschi says, his career as a founder never would have happened if he hadn't jailbroken an iPhone at age 12. Here is the full, incredible story.

Part 1: The Spark (Age 12)

At 12 years old in Brazil, Pedro was obsessed with getting an iPhone, which was only sold in the US and locked to AT&T. He bought one anyway and, through relentless problem-solving, became one of the first people in the world to successfully jailbreak it.

Part 2: The Partnership (Age 16)

This technical skill led him into online developer communities. At 16, he got into a heated argument on Twitter about coding with another Brazilian teen, Henrique Dubugras. That argument turned into a friendship, and they built their first startup together.

Part 3: The First Exit (Pagar.me)

Their first company was Pagar.me, a payment processing Fintech company that became known as the "Stripe of Brazil." They grew it to a massive success and sold it, all while still in their teens.

Part 4: The Silicon Valley Leap (Y Combinator)

With a successful exit, they moved to the US and enrolled at Stanford University. They famously dropped out after just 8 months to join the world's most famous startup accelerator, Y Combinator.

Part 5: The Unicorn (Brex)

In Silicon Valley, they founded Brex, a Fintech company to solve a problem they faced: providing corporate credit cards for other startup founders. Today, Brex is valued at over $12.3 billion, making it one of the most successful US tech companies in recent history.
