Toyota Rav4 cylinder head removal - Ep2 #1116

The second in a series of videos covering the diagnosis & repair of a poorly running Rav4 engine. The engine had dropped a cylinder & was only running on 3. Watch in this video as I go through the step by step procedure for removing the engine's cylinder head.

In the video I cover all the steps needed to remove the cylinder head whilst keeping the engine block in the vehicle. After completing the job its obvious that Toyota intended for the complete engine & transmission to be lowered from the vehicle whilst still attached to the front sub-frame, once removed as a complete unit then it can be disassembled.

Removing only the cylinder head therefore is a difficult task to say the least & I'm really not looking forward to refitting it with the block still in the car as some of the pipework & harness connectors are all but impossible to access...

With the head removed you can see if I was correct with my diagnostics & what was causing the main failure on this engine.
