Myanmar Beyond the Headlines | Yangon Street Food to Bagan’s 2000 Temples

Myanmar is often seen through headlines — conflict, instability, and uncertainty.

But what does everyday life actually look like on the ground?

In this travel documentary, I explore two of Myanmar’s most fascinating places: the bustling streets of Yangon and the ancient temple plains of Bagan.

Over several days, I wandered through night markets glowing with neon lights, discovered hidden curry counters and quiet bars, shared meals I couldn’t even name, and stepped inside temples that have stood for nearly a thousand years.

Along the way I encountered:

• Yangon’s chaotic Chinatown street food scene
• Secret curry counters and low-key cocktail bars
• A traditional Bagan feast with more than 30 dishes
• Over 2,000 temples rising from the plains of an ancient kingdom
• Pilgrims, prayers, and everyday life inside Myanmar’s sacred spaces

From sizzling woks to silent temples, this journey revealed a country far more complex — and far more alive — than the news might suggest.

This film combines my travels through Yangon and Bagan, capturing both the food and the faith that shape life here.
