How to install an auxiliary fuel line in your Sprinter | DIY campervan diesel heater install

To run our diesel heater, we had to tap into our van's diesel fuel tank. Most Mercedes Sprinters from 2007 and on have an auxiliary fuel tap which make installing your heater much simpler. But it is an additional feature that some buyers chose not to go with. If you're unlucky like us (our 2011 didn't have one) you'll need to DIY your own. This video shows your how to drop your fuel tank and install your own auxiliary fuel line.

Before you get started, we'd recommend getting your diesel tank as empty as possible. We ran ours until the fuel light was on.

This is doable by yourself but is much easier if you have two people working on it.

TOOLS WE USED

- Torx socket set
- Torx allen keys
- Hammer
- Drill
- Drill bits
- Craft knife
- Fuel line (some will come with your heater but you may need more)
- Clamps
- Screwdriver
- Jack (or boxes like we used)
- Tape measure
- WD40
