Gilraen's Song - Sindarin:
A chéneg a ionneg
Danna si fuin
Tolo na rengy nin
Beriathon
A núriel annant
Trin aduial
Ne dúath roeg dagech
Ne theilien
A chéneg A ionneg
Pant galu pant glas
A naenatha hún nín
Ne chinn lín cenim:
Le iôn adar lín
û iôn naneth lín

Gilraen's Song - English:
Little boy, little one
Night is falling.
Come into my arms,
Let me hold you safe
But still you run
Through the twilight,
Lost in your play
Slaying demons in the shadows.
Little boy, little one,
Full of grace full of joy,
Oh, my heart will break,
For I see in your eyes:
You are your father's son,
Not your mother's child.

=========================

Gilraen was the daughter of Dirhael. When Arathorn II asked for her hand in marriage at a young age, her father Dirhael opposed the marriage, but Dirhael's wife prevailed upon him to agree to the match, as she foresaw that an early death awaited Arathorn.

Arathorn II became the Chieftain of the Dúnedain in Third Age 2930, when his father was captured by hill-trolls. He ruled for only 3 years until 2933, when he was slain by an arrow that pierced his eye while hunting orcs. He was followed by his infant son Aragorn, also known as Elessar Telcontar.

Gilraen's song was written by Philippa Boyens as expressing her sorrow at Estel's (Aragorn's) destiny of following in his father's footsteps as Chieftain of the Dúnedain and her apprehension at the possibility of his following him into an early death in the battlefield fighting a silent war against Mordor before open warfare broke out in The War of The Ring.

Hymn to Elbereth - Sindarin:

A Elbereth Gilthoniel
Silivren penna míriel
O menel aglar elenath!
Na-chaered palan-díriel
O galadhremmin ennorath
Fanuilos, le linnathon
Nef aer, sí nef aearon!

Hymn to Elbereth - English (David Salo's translation):

O Elbereth Star-kindler
There slants down like shining jewels
From heaven the glory of the stars.
After gazing afar into the distance
From tree-tangled Middle-earth
Snow-white, I sing to you
Beyond the sea, here beyond the great sea.
