Stargate SG1 TV series was filmed in and around the city of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The series was premiered on July 27, 1997 and then moved to the Sci Fi Channel on June 7, 2002. The final episode aired on Sky1 on March 13, 2007.
Colonel Jack O'Neill is summoned out of retirement to embark on a secret mission to Planet Abydos. On Abydos, he discovers a network of Stargates that facilitates interstellar space travel. All signs point to the fact that there are many Stargates that exist throughout the galaxy - a development that makes the dream of the SG-1 team to travel throughout the universe in time a reality.
