Squid finds inspiration in every little corner

Describing Brighton collective Squid as a guitar band would be a little short-sighted. Their dynamic post-punk songs oftentimes feature synths, trumpets and lots of percussion instruments. Unsurprisingly, Squid’s songs are filled with startling twists and turns that have earned them the reputation of Britain’s answer to LCD Soundsystem.

After their show at Into The Great Wide Open Festival, Squid explained how they managed to develop their sound when drummer Ollie Judge took on vocal duties. The five piece also mentioned their fascination for Manchester band DUDS and the record store in which Ollie used to work, where he found the inspiration for tracks like ‘The Cleaner’ and ‘Match Bet’.
