Summary: Hoping to win money at the upcoming fair, Dark hires a barrel racing instructor for his wife, Sleek, and niece-turned-adoptive-daughter, Violet. Sleek and Violet don't know each other very well yet, and the lesson becomes awkward when Sleek tries to show off and fails.

At home, Violet feels like she's see-through. Dark is only interested in his own stuff and Sleek is always preoccupied by her floundering marriage. Their barrels instructor, Needle, works to bring Sleek and Violet out of their shells. It takes time for Sleek to warm up, but she eventually finds she really enjoys spending time with Needle; and as she gets to know Violet better, Sleek and her feel they're on the same team and start to look out for each other.

Sleek and Violet realize they are happier apart from Dark and seek support from Needle, who picks them up and lets them stay at her house to get some distance and clear their heads before the fair the next day. At the fair, Dark is annoyed that Sleek ignored him all day, and that she won't be competing after he paid for her lessons. He's further disappointed when Violet places 7th, meaning he gets no return on his investment.

Sleek forces Dark to see how his negativity is bringing down Violet, who loved competing even though she didn't place. Dark can see this, but his pride won't let him try to fix the situation. He would rather leave. Sleek, Needle, and Violet decide to forget him and have a great night at the fair.
