Ada Lovelace – The First Computer Programmer Woman Who Changed the World

Today we celebrate Ada Lovelace Day — honoring Ada Lovelace (1815–1852), the visionary mathematician and writer often called the world’s first computer programmer.

Born to the poet Lord Byron and his wife Isabella, Ada was abandoned by her father shortly after birth and raised under her mother’s guidance. She showed an early brilliance for mathematics and science — rare for a woman of her time.

Under the mentorship of Charles Babbage, the inventor of the Analytical Engine, Ada developed groundbreaking ideas about how machines could perform complex calculations using symbolic logic — concepts that would inspire Alan Turing over a century later in building the first modern computers.

Her legacy lives on not only in computing but also in the Ada programming language, created in her honor.

💡 October 14 is Ada Lovelace Day, celebrating women in STEM and the visionary who helped shape the digital world.
