11th Kansas Cavalry forced to fight Natives after Civil War

The 11th Kansas Cavalry was an amazing regiment that enlisted in 1862, fought at the battle of Prairie Grove, fought all through the western theatre of the American Civil War and was forced to go west and fight Native Americans after the Civil War was over because they had more time left in their enlistment.

The Fort Caspar Museum has put together an awesome exhibit highlighting the men and exploits of the 11th Kansas Cavalry that suffered extreme loss by the hands of Sioux, Arapahoe, & Cheyenne warriors on July 26th 1865.

This video interviews Johanna Wickman, the biographer of Preston B. Plumb, the major and then LT. Col. of the 11th OVC.
