廖昌永 (Liao, Chang-Yong) - 父親的草原母親的河

This is a Mongolian style Chinese song, lyrics by 席慕容, who is a Mongolian Taiwanese, originally singer maybe 布仁巴雅爾 but I am not 100% sure. This version may not be "Authentic Mongolian" style singing, but if you think about what the lyrics is, it actually talks about a Mongolian who was born in some other places, who does not speak Mongolian yet can sense the power of the Mongolian grassfield and his ancestors when he actually landed there. Hence singing in Chinese using Bel Canto style and describing the power of the Mongolian grassfield would make perfect sense for the song, what else can be more fit of this combination?

Speaking of the voice, I think he is definitely one of the best baritones I've ever heard, his voice sound so natural like human speaking voices, but at the same time coming with that strong lyric quality that most singers can only dream of. He is also one of the rare baritones that sound REALLY great in all low register, middle register, and high register, listen to the A2 in the beginning with that rich tone, and listen the "i" vowel holding in G4 and the powerful A4 after that vowel at the end, it is very hard for a baritone to sing a powerful A4, but he does it even better than quite a lot of tenors seriously, and it's not easy to sing an A2 with a rich and balanced tone too, the outcome of what he did is what good singing technique would offer you.
