Chinese President Xi Jinping has made food security a top priority. Climate change and environmental issues have been deeply integrated into China's overall development. Carlos Watson, the Food and Agriculture Organization's representative to China, mentioned that based on his own observations and experience working with the Chinese government, they have consistently made efforts to ensure agricultural and food security is the nation's top priority. China has made strong political commitments in the national development planning for the 14th Five-Year period. Watson also noted that it is nice to observe administrative measures being complemented by significant public investments in programs encouraging the development and adaptation of low-carbon technologies. Furthermore, from the actual on-the-ground cooperation between the FAO and China, he can see the positive results of such measures.
