Bhagat Singh: The Icon of Revolution

Bhagat Singh (1907–1931) was a fearless revolutionary who played a crucial role in India’s freedom struggle against British rule. Born in Punjab, he was deeply influenced by the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and the freedom movement from a young age. Rejecting non-violent methods, he believed that only a strong revolutionary approach could awaken the masses against colonial oppression.

He became widely known after avenging the death of Lala Lajpat Rai by killing British officer J.P. Saunders in 1928. Later, in 1929, he and Batukeshwar Dutt threw bombs in the Central Legislative Assembly to protest against repressive laws, surrendering voluntarily to spread their message. His writings and speeches inspired many, and his slogan "Inquilab Zindabad" (Long Live the Revolution) became the voice of youth.

Despite global appeals for clemency, Bhagat Singh was hanged on March 23, 1931, at just 23 years of age. His sacrifice turned him into a legend, inspiring generations to fight for justice and equality. Today, he is remembered not just as a martyr but as a symbol of courage and revolutionary spirit.
