A great vocal warm up exercise for strong vowel placement | MusicForMy... Sing'n'Mix

Placement is another word in vocal paedagogy (the teaching of singing) that can be confusing for many singers. It is a weird concept and like a lot of singing, can be something that can become a hindrance if it is obsessed over. Placement is just how we form the vowel sound and that is different for different accents and different voices (hey, we are all completely unique instruments!) A rich vowel tends to be formed further back in our mouths with the soft palate nicely lifted. I call it a rich sound as it pulls on a bit of chesty resonance, bringing a fuller sound. And we achieve that through nice open rounded vowels, so put on your best RP accents!

In this video we start with finding our breath by breathing in, holding and brathing out. Then we sing a simple pattern built around the five note scale to OOH to AH EH EE OH OO vowels. Wonderful!
