Pen Tool vs Brush Tool in Illustrator

When drawing in Illustrator, the pen tool is ideal because to fill an object it usually needs to be a closed, complete shape, and that's easy with the pen tool because when you are completing the object you click on the first point you created and then the shape is closed and fills correctly.

You can't close a shape like that with the brush tool.
• You could select the first and last point and Object - Path - Join them. (Not mentioned in the video.)
• You can draw the figure so the first and last points are almost in the same place, and then they'll fill correctly.
• Or you can create two layers, a color layer and a drawing layer, and draw with the brush tool on the drawing layer and create shapes that you can fill with the Pencil tool on the color layer.
