The back-story: The love of #EdithPiaf life was world champion boxer and legend in France in his own right Marcel Cerdan, who died in a plane crash on October 1949 while flying from Paris to New York City to meet Ms. Piaf. Piaf and Cerdan's affair made international headlines and they were compared to the Gable & Lombard of France. After returning to France and in great anticipation of Edith Piaf’s first public comments after his death, she stood on her balcony with journalists and photographers below from all over the world, and instead of a statement, she sang the song she just wrote in dedication of her one and true love - “If You Love Me (Really Love Me”).
