Series 296 — Adam Grimes | Ohio Patriots & Ohio Pioneers

Adam Grimes lived a life shaped by war, survival, and frontier resilience.
Born around 1754 in Europe, he immigrated to Pennsylvania and served multiple terms in the Revolutionary War — including the Battle of Long Island, where he was captured and held prisoner.

After the war, Adam and his wife Elizabeth moved west into the Ohio frontier, settling in Richland County.
He died there in 1826, and Elizabeth lived to age 92 in Morrow County.

This episode preserves the story of a man nearly lost to time — a patriot who endured captivity, returned to service, and helped build early Ohio.
