It is an ANTI WAR PLAY with a universal appeal. Prof Henry Corrie invents a very powerful bomb but his sister Mrs Meldon wants him to destroy his formula as her son and husband died in the war. When he doesn't listen to her then she stabs him with a knife. The title of the play is ironic because the play is not about progress rather destruction.
