How To Break In An Outboard Motor (And Why You Should)

Buying a catfish boat is a big investment and whether you're investing in a used rig or a brand new boat and motor you want to make sure it's reliable, runs right and you get the most life possible from the boat and motor.

A new outboard motor requires a break in process to assure you have years of trouble free service, the motor performs at it's best and more. In many cases not following the break in procedure will even void the factory warranty on your new motor.

I just picked up my new SeaArk ProCat 240 catfish boat from SeaArk boats with a new Suzuki DF225 Outboard and began the break in process of the motor.

In this weeks video from Catfish Edge I walk you through how to break in an outboard motor and the basic steps involved. Most manufacturers have a similar process but you should consult your owners manual to assure you're following the correct process for your boat motor.

Now that I have the initial outboard motor break in completed on the SeaArk ProCat 240 I'm going to begin rigging the catfish boat adding electronics, rod holders and some other catfishing gear and accessories.

Be sure to keep an eye out for more videos on catfish boats as we work through the rigging process of the new SeaArk ProCat.
