'The defining image of Biden's presidency': US president clashes with Fox News reporter
President Joe Biden got into a heated exchange with Fox News reporter Peter Doocy, with the pairing clashing in the aftermath of the horrific terrorist attack near Kabul's international airport.
At least 13 US service personnel - most of them Marines - were among the 72 people killed after twin explosions were detonated just outside the airport.
ISIS-K, an Islamic State affiliate, claimed responsibility for the attacks.
During the tense exchange, Mr Doocy asked the president if he bears responsibility for chaotic scenes in Afghanistan in the last two weeks as US forces prepare to withdraw from the war torn country.
"I bear responsibility for fundamentally all that’s happened," President Biden told Mr Doocy following a press briefing.
"You know as well as I do that the former president made a deal with the Taliban that he would get all American forces out of Afghanistan by May 1.
"In return, he was given the commitment that the Taliban would continue to attack others, but would not attack any American forces. Remember that?" President Biden asked.
The president proceeded to bow his head and rested his face on his arms, in what many on the centre-right say could be the "defining image" of his presidency.
