Umbrella Academy is one of the hottest new shows on Netflix thanks to its unique take on the superhero genre. With a budding hit franchise on their hands, it’s not at all surprising that Netflix has the actors involved following some pretty strict guidelines. The rules themselves, though, are pretty bizarre and borderline draconian.

Like cast members having to refuse any other projects that could lead to even minor scheduling conflicts. Of course actors are required to only say positive things about their coworkers, but they also have to stick to approved talking points during interviews. Performers on the show also aren’t allowed to post whatever they want to their social media and can only wear approved makeup and clothing.

Netflix more or less controls the lives of the people working on Umbrella Academy, but that still might be worth it for these actors. After all, they’re being paid handsomely and this project is sure to lead to future work for them. After all, the benefits would have to be pretty substantial for these people to put up with Netflix’s restrictions.
