Blue Hour Photography Techniques

Following on from last week's video on 'photography in the rain', this latest video demonstrates another useful way to extend your photography trips, by learning about blue hour photography techniques.

Filmed beside the River Thames in Berkshire UK, professional photographer Tom Mackie explains how he had envisaged shooting a sunset, but as conditions went against him, he went to a back up plan, to photograph blue hour.

As much as Landscape Photographers would always prefer great conditions, working with nature means that sometimes photography can be challenging and knowing how to use other techniques can broaden the range of options to photograph.

Tom shares blue hour photography ideas, explaining what type of subject matters work best and the camera settings needed.

This 'over the shoulder' landscape photography tutorial has step by step guides with supporting images photographed in different ways using an array of different techniques.

There is also a handy tip on how to create a long exposure look using an iPhone.
