New Delhi Railway Station – World Class Makeover Begins | India’s Biggest Railway Revolution
New Delhi Railway Station – World Class Makeover Begins | India’s Biggest Railway Revolution

The New Delhi Railway Station, India’s busiest and most iconic railway hub, is now undergoing a massive ₹2200 crore redevelopment to transform it into a world-class multimodal transport centre. This ambitious project by Indian Railways aims to completely redesign the century-old NDLS into a modern, smart, and sustainable infrastructure hub — offering an airport-like travel experience right in the heart of Delhi. In this video, we’ll walk you through the newly opened holding areas, clean and organized entry-exit zones, and the elevated skywalk that connects different parts of the station seamlessly. We’ll also explore the concourse, waiting lounges, and platforms being rebuilt with advanced architecture and passenger-friendly design.
This redevelopment project is being executed by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) in collaboration with HG Infra Engineering Ltd at a cost of ₹2195 crore. The expected completion timeline is around 45 months (by 2027). The new station will feature a world-class air concourse, multi-level parking, a transit-oriented design (TOD model), and direct connectivity to metro, bus, and airport routes — making it one of India’s first true multimodal hubs. Once completed, it will handle over 5 lakh passengers daily, symbolizing a new era of urban travel in India.
Through this video, we’ll explore how New Delhi Station is being reborn — from chaos to class, from congestion to world-class. This isn’t just a redevelopment — it’s India’s biggest railway revolution and a proud step towards a New India.
Delhi is a city and a union territory of India. It is bordered by Haryana on three sides and by Uttar Pradesh to the east. The NCT covers an area of 1,484 sq km (573 sq mi). According to the 2011 census, Delhi city proper's population was over 11 million, the second-highest in India after Mumbai. Delhi's urban area is now considered to extend beyond the NCT boundary and include the neighbouring cities of Faridabad, Gurgaon, Noida and Ghaziabad in an area now called Central National Capital Region (CNCR) with an estimated 2016 population of over 26 million people, making it the world's second-largest urban area after Tokyo (Japan) according to United Nations. It is the second-wealthiest city after Mumbai in India, with a total wealth of $450 billion and home to 18 billionaires and 23,000 millionaires. Delhi has the highest per capita GDP in India with ₹3,29,000 (US$4,600) and total GDP stood at ₹6.86 lakh crore (US$96 billion). Delhi has been continuously inhabited since the 6th century BC. Through most of its history, Delhi has served as a capital of various kingdoms and empires. It has been captured, ransacked and rebuilt several times, particularly during the medieval period, and modern Delhi is a cluster of a number of cities spread across the metropolitan region.
