NVIDIA has unveiled Blue, a humanoid robot powered by its new Isaac Groot N1 AI foundation model, developed in collaboration with Disney Research and Google DeepMind. Resembling Star Wars’ BD-1 droid, Blue demonstrates real-time vision, locomotion, and manipulation—perceiving its surroundings with onboard cameras, reasoning through multimodal transformers, and executing precise motor actions via AI-driven control loops.

Built on NVIDIA’s Warp framework and the open-source Newton physics engine, Blue serves as a reference platform for next-generation robotics research. Jensen Huang confirmed that both Groot N1 and Newton will be released under open-source licenses later this year, empowering developers to train ever-larger multimodal models, optimize simulation-to-real transfer, and accelerate deployment of intelligent humanoid systems across industries.
