Once upon a time I had to attend a conference on Aerospace Complex Conversion in Moscow 1992...some weeks after Boris Jelzin allowed kiosks as a visible sign for privatisation in the making. People were desperate making a living. Endless alleys of stalls with people trying to sell their belongings displayed the misery many people lived in after the Soviet Union collapsed.
