GIGAPRESS – WHY AREN'T THE WORLD'S MAJOR CARS COMPANIES USING THIS FORM OF CAR PRODUCTION?
Giga Press is a series of aluminum die casting machines manufactured by Idra Group in Italy, the house-sized monster machines are capable of producing single-cast pieces. When operating, they have a cycle time of ~80‒90 seconds, which translates to an output rate of 40‒45 completed castings per hour, or about ~1,000 castings per day. That’s over 300,000 castings per year, per machine. Until now, Giga Press is the largest high-pressure die casting machine in the world.
So the big question is Why aren't the world's major cars companies using this form of car production but the only tesla uses them?
TESLA HAS SPECIAL ALLOY, SO HOW WILL TESLA PRODUCE IT?

Tesla's engineers have developed their own alloy. This is why it's really important. There's a phenomenon called CTE (or coefficient thermal expansion). When the metal gets hot, it expands, and after cooling, it shrinks as the metal is really dense. And if it has to shrink many times, the metal will crack. This is known as shrinkage cracks. Therefore, when casting, shrinkage cracks are a production killer and can really reduce yield.
So what they have to do is go back to a first-principles approach to come up with an alloy to prevent this from occuring. That's where Gigapress shows its talent. This machine can cast the chassis which is able to release quickly. The Gigapress moves the product to an area to cool down, with some sort of airflow or some quench to quickly reduce the temperature. Then they can place that on the assembly line and start building a car.
In traditional chassis manufacture, of course, you have to check the chassis quality by a method called ultrasonic inspection. Basically, you look for internal defects. So with that type of production, it is counter-intuitive because it takes much more time and resources. If you really wanted to make sure that you have good quality certified material, you'd have to do 100 inspections that don't really lend well.

production lines to ensure the image of a top car. If the company wanted to use Giga Press, wouldn't this mean jettisoning the whole luxurious production lines away? Moreover, the cost of re-investing from the beginning is not cheap, while the current facilities are still in good use, it is difficult for corporations to change their minds.
