Interview: Jack Kane Talks New 'Obvious' EP, Future-Proofing His Sound, & Imagery-Packed Songwriting

We caught up with rising singer-songwriter Jack Kane, fresh from releasing his new EP Obvious. The EP shines with its classic pop influences and sharp lyricism, particularly on standout tracks such as Wisdom Tooth and Breaking Up in a Department Store. Jack sat down with editor Andrew to chat about the ‘flowing’ creative sessions that brought the project to life, explore the narrative arc of the tracks, and unpack the metaphorical imagery of the record.

Jack also spoke about the highs of touring across the UK, channelling his love of classic pop into his sound, and the moment that inspired him to pursue music. He also reflected on the importance of creating songs he’ll continue to be proud of in the years ahead.

The musician discussed his current role in the touring production of Miss Saigon and how he finds time to express himself as a songwriter while immersed in performing in character.
