California Dreams: A Fan's Perspective on the 90s American Sitcom (Mike Rand, Part 2) (S.01 | Ep.02)
California Dreams is a feel-good American teen sitcom from the 1990s that had global appeal and reach. The sitcom had ended 29 years ago and is still talked about today and is referenced as a great example of how good we all had life in the 1990s.
In the 1990s, we held real conversations with people and did not communicate via text messages all social media applications. People spent their Friday nights and weekends in video-game arcades, or walking around video stores and music stores to find that purchase. There were no online shop orders in this time. We had to be there in the store to make purchases. Even though that method seems inefficient, it provided more time and more conversations with friends and family. Time with the most special people in our life is something we cannot get back or increase, so that is one answer to why people keep talking about the 1990s or a time before computers, internet, and social media.
In this episode, we talk with Mike Rand and he shares his appreciation for California Dreams and why the 1990s was a fun period to live in and to watch television. He points out that the sitcom encourages us all to reach for our dreams and do things for ourselves. Additionally, Mike Rand shares with us the joy of going to comic cons and meeting the stars that he grew up watching. Join us on a trip down nostalgia avenue.
