Wendell Culley's classical style and clean trills can be heard on the intro and coda of 'St. James Infirmary' . Cab's vocal defies the usually tragic feel of this classic 'moaner' I think. There are further solos by Joe Thomas and Lammar Wright. 'St. James Infirmary' served briefly as the signature tune of Cab Calloway and His Orchestra. It also registered on the best seller charts in June 1931.
