Nets to Energy

Derelict fishing net debris (ghost nets) being chopped, by Schnitzer Steel Hawaii Corporation, into small pieces suitable for incineration at the City and County of Honolulu's H-Power waste to energy facility, run by Covanta Energy. In Hawaii, over 700 tons of ghost nets have been used to create electricity instead of going in the landfill.
