Aerial Silks Tutorial: Rebekah Roll to Belay

This is one of my favorite entrances to belay on aerial silks, and is the first entrance to belay that I teach my beginner aerial silk students. It's a great way to get into belay because the wrap is familiar. You can use a dancer wrap footlock instead of just a double wrap if it gives you more security. It is still quite easy to pop the footlock off once you hook the knee.

Keep tension on your tails so that you don't accidentally make your belay loop too big. Watch the demo at the end to see one way to exit belay. Do this low the first few times so that you can easily get out of belay.

Ask many questions in the comments section and I will be happy to answer them!

Pro Combo Tip for awesome Drop on Silks!

I love combining this with the Rebekah Drop. I do the drop first and then take it straight to the belay and it makes for an awesome stacked sequence with lots of flair for performances. Plus ending in belay gives you and opportunity to make some pretty shapes while you catch your breath.

Enjoy and train safe!
