“पानी साफ दिखता है, पर क्या पानी पीने के लिये सुरक्षित है? H₂S टेस्ट बता सकता है!”
How we can examine drinking Water at Home
Every day, you consume lots of water from foods, beverages like coffee or tea, and pure water. As such, it’s only natural to be curious about the quality and safety of your water sources.
All drinking water in the U.S. is tightly regulated. For the most part, it’s completely safe. Meanwhile, other sources of water may be unsafe to drink.
This article reviews the different types of drinking water, things to consider regarding water quality and safety, and the best types of water to drink.
The H2S test essentially detects the presence of hydrogen sulfide in a water sample upon the formation of a black precipitate with iron; hydrogen sulfide is created by bacteria associated with mammal intestinal linings and thus acts as an indicator of faecal bacterial activity
The H2S test is intended to detect bacteria of faecal origin, some of which can reduce organic sulfur to sulfide as H2S gas.
This reacts with the reagents in the test vial to form a black precipitate and allows visual detection of faecal contamination by examining the colour of the water in the vial
Water is essential to life, but many people do not have access to clean and safe drinking water and many die of waterborne bacterial infections.
In this review a general characterization of the most important bacterial diseases transmitted through water—cholera, typhoid fever and bacillary dysentery—is presented, focusing on the biology and ecology of the causal agents and on the diseases’ characteristics and their life cycles in the environment.
The importance of pathogenic Escherichia coli strains and emerging pathogens in drinking water-transmitted diseases is also briefly discussed. Microbiological water analysis is mainly based on the concept of faecal indicator bacteria. The main bacteria in human and animal faeces (focusing on their behaviour in their hosts and in the environment) and the most important faecal indicator bacteria are presented and discussed (focusing on the advantages and limitations of their use as markers). Important sources of bacterial faecal pollution of environmental waters are also briefly indicated
