Grackle Versus Woodpecker

Fascinating Bird Behavior! In the fast-paced bird world a 40 second standoff is an eternity. The Big Cheese Grackle of the small Backyard family can really dominate some of the feeders, even owning the Blue Jays. But when the Red Bellied Woodpeckers want to come in to a feeder for a visit they expect the other big birds to clear out of the way. Surprisingly rather than leave, this big Grackle attacks, then tries to intimidate the woodpecker through a long classic stare-down and then attacks again, but no backyard bird dislodges a big woodpecker, the Woody hangs and takes the platform.
