Woodturning project - Figured silver maple & purpleheart lidded jar / box / bowl

Bowl turning is fun, but this time I added a new element - a lid. In this video, you can see my approach for making a lidded container of any size with minimal wasted wood. Because of all the steps involved, this video is a bit longer. There are lots of ways to approach this project and I have tried a number of methods over the years, but I usually just do whatever I can come up with to accomplish the task. The trickiest part is often figuring out how to hold a piece on the lathe, especially when you're trying to minimize wasted wood. You'll notice that I use some tiny tenons with the pin jaws on my chuck to do some detail work on the lid. My main tools for this project are bowl gouges and a skew (I also use a roughing gouge and bowl scraper a little bit). As with any woodturning project, about half of the effort is in the sanding and since I'm using Silver maple (a soft maple), sanding sealer makes a huge difference. Apologies for the dust collector noise; I knocked the volume down on those parts, I'm still trying to figure out how to minimize or eliminate it in the future. Thanks for watching!
