WATCH: Trump vs. Haley speeches after New Hampshire vote
After winning the 2024 New Hampshire primary Tuesday night, former President Donald Trump gave what he described as "not your typical victory speech. "
"Let's not have somebody take a victory when she had a very bad night," he said.
Trump was reacting to runner-up and GOP rival Nikki Haley, who took her second-place finish as an opportunity to tell supporters that she wasn't done with her fight because she was "worried about the future of our country."
The two spent time talking about the GOP nomination, but also each other.
Trump was flanked by two opponents-turned-allies, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott. Both spoke in support of Trump.
"With Donald Trump, Republicans have lost almost every competitive election," Haley told her own supporters in Concord, New Hampshire.
“The worst-kept secret in politics is how badly the Democrats want to run against Donald Trump. They know Trump is the only Republican in the country who Joe Biden can defeat,” she added.
Haley also made light of a speech by Trump where he had confused Haley with former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. She said she had called for mental competency tests for political candidates over the age of 75 and suggested that if Trump was as able as she, then he should debate her — something the former president has so far refused to do with his Republican rivals.
“If he thinks that, then he should have no problem standing on a debate stage with me,” Haley said.
