REALIZE 2015 Forum - Task- based Learning and Teaching

Many students at Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia in Halifax, Nova Scotia, are active job seekers or currently employed. They want to feel that their time in the classroom is well spent and that they have gained measurable, practical skills which will impact their day to day lives in a positive way. In our language classes, these students wish to focus on acquiring and improving their language skills while learning about the general culture and etiquette of a professional, business environment in Nova Scotia. For this reason, the task-based approach to learning and teaching is a preferred method by many language instructors at our organization.

About Andrea Taylor

Andrea Taylor has been teaching EAL since 1999, both in Canada and abroad. She has been with Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia since 2008 as an instructor and curriculum developer.
