King Penguins Mating

This King penguin pair is deep in the midst of courtship behavior at the start of the breeding season. They rely on posturing and visual cues - as do many birds - to find a mate and begin when the female is ready. Not only do these birds utilize posturing, but also chattering with their bills as part of the courtship. Clearly, in the video, the female is not ready yet, but most likely will be within the nest day or two.

These theories are based on several weeks spent observing and recording the behavior of both Gentoo penguins and King penguins throughout the Falkland Islands.
