Will Donald Trump take Greenland by force? | Inside Story
Donald Trump has his eyes set on Greenland.
The US president said Washington should take over the Danish territory, saying it's crucial to its national security.
But the idea has raised alarms in the semi-autonomous region, particularly after US Vice President JD Vance announced he'd visit the island.
The tour has now been scaled down, but many still call it 'provocative' and 'disrespectful'.
Greenland is rich in minerals and is strategically located, but its people say, their territory is NOT for sale.
So, will this threat further alienate European allies?
And how far is Trump willing to go to get what he wants?
Presenter: Elizabeth Puranam
Guests:
Marc Jacobsen - Associate Professor at the Royal Danish Defence College.
Jim Townsend - Senior Fellow at the Center for a New American Security, he served as President Obama's deputy assistant secretary of defense for Europe and NATO.
Ed Arnold - Research Fellow for European Security at the Royal United Services Institute, a defence and security think-tank.
Pele Broberg - leader of the pro-independence Naleraq party in Greenland.
