This is my return trip and second day metal detecting the untouched colonial 1700s site I just found. I hike back out with my Garrett ATGOLD metal detector to see what else I can dig up and find. Right from the start I am picking up button signals and you won't believe the dandy buttons I am finding from the 1700s. These are huge copper button with what looks like a pineapple with ribbons. Old dinnerware knifes are also dug up and saved.
This is a great example of what is out there in the woods of New England for lost homesites of the colonial era that have never been detected or mapped. I spent so much time finding this location by researching as well as hours of following the old stone walls. Cellar holes can be very well hidden out in the forest and believe me they are not all big in size, this is a very small location and not easy to spot by any means.
