Michigan Deer Hunting Pre Rut 2025

This week finally brought some cooler weather, and I could tell the bucks were starting to get more active with fresh scrapes showing up everywhere. October 11th around 5:30 PM, this 2½-year-old 7 stepped out from the shadows of the cover, checking the wind. He must’ve caught the scent from my Wyndscent Sanctuary aroma drifting through the woods. The squirrels were going nuts feeding on acorns, which had him a little on edge. A few moments later, he started thrashing the brush, showing off some classic pre-rut behavior. Such an awesome sight to witness in God’s creation. About 30 minutes later, he stepped into the open for an easy 23 yard shot. The arrow passed through both lungs, and he went down within 70 yards. So thankful for this sit, the cool air, the action, and the chance to make another great hunting memory; this time shared with my son-in-law Brian.
