Two year BMX progression - As a 40 year old.

I took up mountain biking into my 30’s and while shopping for a jump bike but ended up walking away with a 2014 Social Storm BMX.

Had no interest in learning tricks, I saw it as a way to improve my MTB skills and planned to spend all my time on pump tracks.
This somehow resulted in a new obsession that would lead my down a road I hadn’t expected to travel.

I’ve broken many bones riding my mountain bike in the early days, if I recall it totalled a collarbone, 4 wrists and 5 ribs in the first 14 months.

In August 2018 I fell while on the jump bike I’d just built up and snapped my thigh bone a year into my BMX riding which took me out until January.

Since then I’ve replaced the Social with my dream bike my wife and kids got me for my 40th.
It’s a Gary Young Special, Sunday Soundwave V3 rocking all Sunday and Odyssey aftermarket parts including a freecoaster I’ve learnt to ride.

This is a collection of clips documenting the progression a novice can expect to see over the course of a couple of years riding.
No question others can and do learn much faster than I, as I say, I’m a relatively elderly beginner so I’ve made no attempts to go upside down or throw the bars so if you have the balls...

Hope you enjoy.
