Sanfilippo Foundation - Wurlitzer Theater Organ player system - Tom Hazelton

The most spectacular feature of the Sanfilippo Estate when it comes to the theater organ, is the room itself. It was designed not only for the sound to surround you, but to immerse you in the sounds, no matter where you sit. Nowhere is this better demonstrated than in the late Tom Hazelton's rendition of Carillon de Westminster. When I first heard it, I thought the building itself was going to come crashing down around me. It starts off quiet, but builds to an unbelievable conclusion where you begin wondering if the two foot thick concrete walls are going to hold up. Watch your speaker level on this one, folks! The Deagan carillon bells are from St. Xavier's Church in Chicago, and of course are meant for outdoor use. Jasper put them in the house, and the rest is history.
I gave a tour to a Carillon Enthusiast's group and played this piece. When it was over, they were all screaming, "Play it again!". Mr. Hazelton had a reputation for not holding back on the capabilities of the Sanfilipp Wurlitzer. We thank him profusely for that.
