Atlas Start Up 8 13 2013
In August of 2012 a new engine arrived at Mystic Seaport to add its extensive collection of marine engines.
This engine is an Atlas Imperial used in a fishing boat on the west coast. It came to the seaport from a museum in Philadelphia where it sat for many years.
It was found to be seized up when first looked at. The Mystic Seaport engine volunteer group cleaned it up, oiled it up, and freed it up. This is the first time it has been started. Not running well yet, the engine needs more adjustments.
The engine will be part of the annual Mystic Seaport Marine Engine Show on August 17th and 18th, 2013.
10" bore, 13" stroke.
135 horse power at 325 RPM
4 Cyl and 18,010 pounds.
4082 cubic inches!
