http://TrinityDigitalMedia.com/church-tech On today's Tech Help for Churches, The two types of free music you can use on YouTube
If you log into YouTube and go to the creator's studio, then click on Audio Library (or go to http://youtube.com/audiolibrary/music), there are two sets of music you can use in your videos.
[tweet "YouTube provides two lists of free music. You may be tempted to go with the songs you know, but it comes at this cost:"]
The first is royalty free and free for you to use in your videos no matter whether you upload them to YouTube or not. The downside is that most of these songs are ones you've never heard of before.
You may be tempted to use the second kind, the ones supported by advertising. After all, you're doing church video, so you're not trying to monetize your youtube channel. If that's true, then giving advertising revenue to the artists is no big loss right? Maybe.
There are other terms and conditions that go with this type of music. First, the songs aren't licensed for all localities. A lot of the ones I looked at weren't licenced for Germany, for example. Perhaps this isn't a big deal to you, but maybe you have a large mission force in Germany and want to use your videos there. If that case it it. The other issue is that these terms are subject to change. Maybe it's okay to use them now, but it might not be later.
Depending on your circumstances, this might not be a big deal, but go into it with your eyes open.
