"Right now, our biggest challenge is the supply of humanitarian aid. Effectively, we're running out of stocks of water, food, medicines. We are running out of the basics commodities that we need to serve the population. So what's really now critical is a sustained pipeline of supplies from Egypt into Gaza. That has been a very, very difficult negotiation over a long period. My call is that that aid needs to flow. Yes late last night, we got the second convoy in of around 14 trucks, that brings to 34 trucks what we've brought in in over two days. We need hundreds of trucks coming into Gaza to meet the needs of the population here."

"Right now we have three days' stocks of fuel left in Gaza. We need fuel to come into Gaza, otherwise, hospitals are going to close. We are going to stop the supply of portable water because the desalination plants will run out of water. It means that our logistic fleet, our generators will stop operating. We will not have an aid operation in Gaza if we don't get more fuel in over the next three days."

"This is my concern. The aid that's coming in right now is not of the scale that we need to serve the population. 34 trucks over two days is a drop in the ocean. We need hundreds, we need hundreds of trucks coming into Gaza to ensure that we can get water to people, we can keep the food supply going and we can keep the hospitals running."

"The big question is when does the fuel start coming into Gaza? We don't know that now. The United Nations is putting pressure on Israel to allow fuel to enter the Gaza Strip. We are very, very clear that if we do not get fuel into Gaza over the next couple of days, the humanitarian operation in the support of close to 2 million people will grind to a halt. We will run out of water, hospitals will be closing because there's no power, we will not be able to get food to people. Our logistic operation that is supporting everything will grind to a halt."

"Everybody in Gaza is scared of being hit in an airstrike. You can feel the tension, you can feel the fear in the community. People are desperate to seek shelter. So that is my second call and that is a humanitarian ceasefire. This killing, the destruction, has got to stop. People are scared for their lives in Gaza. The conflict needs to end."

"Now we call this the international community, there has to be respect for international humanitarian law (IHL). When people are seeking protection, when people are seeking protection in an UNWRA facility under a UN flag they should be protected, they should not be targeted. My major concern is for many communities in the north who remain under a UN flag in the north, they should be respected. IHL needs to be upheld in this case."
