Rainy Chinese New Year 2020 in Macau. Shot January 25th, 2020, the first day of the Year of the Rat.

雨の降るマカオで迎える、2020年の旧正月。2020年1月25日撮影、子年最初の日です。

The Chinese New Year’s celebrations and fireworks were canceled in Macau this year. The city was eerily empty.

The UNESCO Historic Centre of Macau World Heritage Site Senado Square (Largo do Senado) was decorated with beautiful lights and decorations celebrating the Year of the Rat. Most businesses around town were closed, but I found a nice place for noodles that was open.

I walked around town and checked out the Hotel Lisboa area. This area has changed a lot since the first time I visited Macau. The newer Grand Lisboa, opened in 2008, is huge and has a very bright light display.

Walked the almost empty streets towards Macau Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal and saw some of the newer buildings and casinos/hotels built on reclaimed land.

今年のマカオの旧正月のイベントは、花火も含め中止になりました。そのため街中は閑散としていました。

ユネスコの世界遺産に登録されてるセナド広場は、子年をお祝いして華やかな照明やデコレーションで飾られていました。旧正月なので多くのお店は閉まっていましたが、美味しい麺のレストランを見つけることができました。

少し歩いて、リスボアホテルの周辺をチェックしてみました。このエリアは私が最初にマカオを訪れた時に比べると、本当に変わってしまいました。とても巨大できらびやかな照明のディスプレイが特徴的なグランドリスボアは2008年にオープンしました。

マカオ・アウター・ハーバー・フェリーターミナルまで、あまり人気のない道を歩いてみました。埋め立てされた土地に建つ、たつたくさんの新しいカジノやホテルを見かけました。
