ONE DAY IN PALMA 🇪🇸 | Old City + Palma Cathedral

The old city of Palma is famous for its gothic sandstone cathedral rising up above the historic city walls and dominating the entire bay area. It’s the first thing tourists arriving by boat see and the one thing they’re certain not to forget. Palma is the largest city in the Balearic Islands.

My one day in Palma started early and so I was able to see two versions of the city – one with tourists and the other without. As I walked the narrow, overhanging streets of the old town it was surprising how quickly the historic quarter filled with people flocking in from all around the island and beyond.

After admiring the interior of Palma Cathedral and catching a glimpse of its famous rose window made up of 1,236 individual pieces of glass, I headed outside to Parc de la Marr for a wide angle view of the island's largest building.

With the small and previously quiet passageways starting to fill up and the midday sun beginning to pack a punch I decided to soak in some of the atmosphere at Plaza Mayor - the famed, colourful central Plaza in the middle of the old city.

From there I planned my next move - a hike into the mountains that surround Palma with the intention of finding an old fortress called Bellver Castle. Tune into my next video to see that one - the views at the top were stunning!
