Making an Original 1939 Dress on a Vintage Singer Sewing Machine From 1939 | Home For The Holidays | Part 1

Wow! Was this dress a rollercoaster ride of emotion! Sewing an original 1939 dress pattern (Vogue 9127) on a vintage 1939 Singer sewing machine, using fabric I have never worked with before, in a different sewing environment - what could go wrong? BAHHAHA! Everything.

This BEAUTIFUL Singer sewing machine is a Singer 99-13 with a knee lever. It belonged to my neighbour, May, who used it to sew all her and her husband, Boyd, clothes. I'm sure she would be happy to know that it still works and is being used - even if not as properly as she could.

But in all honesty, now that I've put the dress down for a full day (and edited all the footage) I feel like I need to finish this dress. I think I had just been staring at it too long, ripping and redoing sections too many times to think clearly. Now that I've thought about it, I think I've figured out what to do - so there will be a part 2! It might be on Friday or Monday -depending on which idea I choose to go with and how long it takes me. OR I'll post it burning in a dumpster as mentioned.

This is my first *fail* project - but I guess because it is not yet finished, I can't call it a complete fail. This one just hit hard because I was so excited about this project.

On the bright side, I got to spend an awesome weekend at home and catch up on some quality time with my parents. I'm lucky to have them - and have them trust me with their antique sewing machine! We had a lot of laughs in between my numerous head explosions!
